LCAA Board Welcomes New President and Secretary
At its annual meeting on Dec. 13, the Level Cross Athletic Association elected its Executive Board of Directors for the 2012 baseball season:
President - Brandon Laughlin
Vice President - Chris Parr
Secretary - Ashley Ilderton
Treasurer - Travis Tomlinson
Competition Director - Geof Brooks
This is the first change in the board since late 2009. The new leadership will invigorate this board and bring renewed strength to the Level Cross ball program. Our new president, Brandon Laughlin, grew up in the Level Cross program in the 1990s. He played travel ball and lettered for three years on Randleman High's baseball team. Brandon has a great passion for the game, as well as an understanding of how to teach it to youngsters. His son currently plays T-ball at Level Cross, and he has another young child who will soon be in the Starter program. Brandon's wife, Jennifer, is reportedly a terrific ball player herself.
Ashley Ilderton is our new secretary. While it's not a qualification for the position, she ran an incredibly organized T-ball dugout during games. That's saying something, because the words "organized" and "t-ball" are rarely used in the same sentence. Communication is another specialty of Ashley's, whether using phone, email, text or social media, she makes sure that necessary information gets to the necessary parties. The program will certainly benefit from Ashley's skills, hopefully for a long time to come. Her son Aaron is on an LC T-ball team that her husband, Jimmy, helps coach.
Chris Parr remains a stalwart at V.P. and will take on sponsorship responsibilities for the coming year. If you or someone you know would like to sponsor a team, outfield sign or both at Level Cross Ball Park, Chris is the one to contact. Travis Tomlinson, the backbone of the Level Cross program along with his wife Caroline, will again serve as Treasurer. Geof Brooks will remain on the board as Competition Director, being a liasion between the coaches and the board, and also working to build a tournament program and competitive tournament teams at Level Cross.
Many thanks to Jennifer Nix, who served as a trusted and reliable secretary to the LCAA for four years, an eternity for a volunteer position. She was one of the key people who helped bring the LC program up from the trash heap to become a solid place for kids in this community to learn baseball. Thanks also to Steve Stringer, who was coaches director for two years. Steve made sure things got done around the ball park, and shared his mechanical ability to the park's great benefit. Both Jennifer and Steve did great jobs, and while neither will get the gratitude they deserve, they are appreciated.
